This is why Japanese people are starting not to like Westerners

This is a story from Tokyo. In front of the Imperial palace is a moat. This is a body of water that acts like a buffer zone in front of the palace. This is to keep people away from the imperial family. The imperial family is a sacred part of Japanese history and everyday life. Only a westerner would do such a disgraceable act. People like this man is the reason westerners are kept out of a lot of countries and hated around the world.

To blame all Westerners for acts of a few is what I illogical discrimination and possible racism. While is may be the hype to currently hate Americans because of atrocities they commit, it is not wise or fair to blame everyone. But more relevant than one skinner dipper is the Japanese population's majority disliking any and all foreigners. Gaijins are used as the scapegoat of problems in the society especially crime. All of this stems from historical conflicts in the region but is also caused simply by the advocation of Japanese superiority. I realize I say these things from a glass house. America has a horrible record on racism. My point is that racism should not be tolerated anywhere and that we should decide what people think and do on the individual basis. I hope to be a foreign lawyer someday in Japan and right now there are very serious restrictions on what type of law foreigners can deal in and what legal action they can take. This is because the Japanese legal system fears the system will be 'messed up' by outside interference. My hope is that soon gaijin will be recognized as intelligent enough to practice law in all areas.

JPSCHOEN I am not blaming the acts of a few, the few that have done these stupid acts are hurting it for all of us. I never once said Americans, I said Westerners. There are plenty of places that Westerners cannot go due to the stupidity of people before us and I agree with it. I would not want people in my business that hurt my profit margin. When you say "gaijin" that could be seen as a racism term, so please watch what you say because even Japanese people don't say that word unless it it meant offensive.

"Only a westerner would do such a disgraceable act" is a racist comment and so is "There are plenty of places that Westerners cannot go due to the stupidity of people before us and I agree with it." Just because someone is from the West they will hurt your profit margin? Basic logic says you can not from from "some" to "all". Based of those comments I would asses that you are a proponent of racism. But you are free to be racist if you so choose. Japan as nation is not. It is a party to the International Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Racial Discrimination which bans any discrimination based on national or ethnic origin. But more accurately Japan is not "starting to not like Westerners" It has been for the past decade removing barriers to allow skilled foreign labor because of the population shortage, which includes people from the West. And I did not realize gaijin was a racist term. I was referred to as a gaijin while I was in Japan by friends.

Brits are known for having the worst tourists in the world. Americans are actually according to polls considered some of the best. Lets no take this out of proportion.
