After watching "Umizaru", I would like to say that I am lucky, because I've watched "Umizaru 2 Limit of Love", before the first one. "Umizaru" is about trainning, and the beginning of the relationship between Hideaki Ito and Ai Kato; but the second one, is about a real accident and the development of the relationship of the two. If you like the first, you will like the second one much much more, or try the American one "The Guardian (2006)". In conclusion, these movies are the best advertisement for coast guards, and they should be government sponsored.
The film begins with the arrival of Kanna, meeting up with her fiance, Daisuke, and his friend, who serve as rescue divers for the Japanese Coast Guard. After a few drinks and dinner they head back to the hotel where we discover that events in Daisuke-san's past have created a divide in his relationship with Kanna. In training exercises the next day, the diver squad is summoned to the boat “The Clover” which has had an accident and is sinking off the coast. As Daisuke and others try to clear the passengers, they become trapped in a room surrounded by flooded areas and fire. Daisuke fights to escape and save the last two passengers and his friend from death. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, with its unique sense of humor, and fun disaster film vibe. The odd lack of plot development at the beginning was a tad distracting, though I attribute this to the film being a sequel. Its impact on American culture is also interesting, since it served the basis for the 2006 film The Guardian starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.
After watching the movie I think I understand what the professor (I forget his name) that spoke before the movie was talking about as far as the Japanese people being without a leader after the Prime Minister resigned. With all the references to looking to the sky and not giving up hope was a symbol of the people looking up for a leader, or some kind of guiding light. I don't know if that was the intended political message but thats what I got from it. I do have to say as far as the plot of the movie goes, poor Kanna had to go on the worlds worst emotional rollercoaster ride. One minute they say Daisuke is dead, the next alive, then dead, alive, crying, no crying, up and down oh my god make it stop haha. And then you have poor Daisuke who is doing every damn thing he can to save these people and just before he can escape BAM new explosion, new disaster. All in all the movie was enjoyable even if it was a little far fetched.
"Umizaru, the Limit of Love" is the second movie about members of the Japanese Coast Guard, who now find themselves fighting to escape a sinking freighter. The main character Daisuke and his partner Yoshioka are desperately trying to get the two remaining passengers off the vessel as explosions block exists and the rising waters flood the stairways. The four have a terrible run of bad luck, much to the dismay of Daisuke’s girlfriend Kanna, who is on shore anxiously waiting to resolve relationship issues with the emotionally disturbed Daisuke. The film communicates its theme of perseverance quite well through the many heroic deeds of the various characters. "Umizaru" was overall an enjoyable and entertaining film.
"Umizaru" The Limit of Love was a really good movie. It was filled with humor, romance, drama, action, and a bunch of long pointless conversations. The heroism and the symbolism of the reaching hand in the glove added a lil extra touch that made the movie that much more memorable. This Japanese people were so enduring and faithful to the one's they love. It was a little dramatic with the music and how close the ferry was to the shore. Overall great and Daisuki san was pretty.
I found this film very exciting and touching especially the scenes of rescue.
Senzaki's determination to save himself and others under very difficult circumstances, and his attitude of never giving up is very moving. However some scenes are overly dramatic, for instance Senzaki should not be talking on the phone for so long with Kanna when he and three others were in such critical situation. That part. in my opinion, dilutes the excitement and intensity of the rescue mission which was very well done.
Overall I enjoyed watching this fast paced Japanese good movie.
Before I begin, I'd like to add that it was Professor Ambury that spoke before the movie (dane_harris).
This movie was pretty good, and I wish I would have had an opportunity to see the first movie because I might have appreciated Umizaru 2 more.
The story was good and the acting was fantastic. The part that just really stood out to me was near the end as Daisuke is leading the team to Yoshioka. I was impressed with the actor portraying Daisuke because I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been to cry while being completely submerged in water. I also think that the actress who played Kanna performed well too; I think it would have been easy to overact with such an emotional role.
I really enjoyed how the movie flowed so well. I can understand how the movie went along with Japanese people feeling at the time. The actor who played Daisuke did a very good job playing a "military style" job. I have the pleasure of working with Japanese military personnel and that was resenated in this movie. I hope the next movie was as good as this one. I liked at the end where Yoshioka wanted his car because he won the bet.
The movie was a fun movie to watch. The movie had romance, action and somewhat of a suspense so that everyone could watch. Long story short the movie was about a coastal guard/rescuer never giving up to save his best friend/coworker and 2 other people he just met on the ship. In the end with his heroic leadership he saves all and reunites with his other friends and fiance. It was a great movie of friendship, love, teamwork, and many other character developing themes.
This movie is about one man's struggle to save innocent lives from a sinking ferry ship. This movie depicts true heroism and the bond development between friends and lovers. Although the plot, in my opinion, was rather on the weak side, the overall emotional embodiment of the story was quite on the mark. A few cheesy dialogs were scattered throughout the movie to express humor, some at more inappropriate times than others, but the effect of that gave the movie a more lighthearted sense. Overall, the movie installs a sense of casual fun into the mind of the viewers with a mixture of action, emotion, and danger.
I knew some of the actors and actresses from this movie because I used to live in Japan as you know and I've watched so many dramas and movies back then. This movie was very touching and I was just so into it since I haven't watched any Japanese movies recently. It showed the good work for the coast guards. And also how you need trust with those you work or in any kind of relationships you have with someone. Honestly I thought this movie night was just showing some weird movie or something, but it changed my view of this event and I thought it was very nice of the Japanese Department to show the students one of the good movies on campus.
This movie was incredibly worth watching. I really like the setting of the movie and the scenario of the story. It all started when one of the levels of the ship exploded. Now the coast guard team is on a mission to rescue the passenger on the cruise. A special person was the fiancé of one of the coast guard who are now on a duty to save those people before it is too late. Overall, a very interesting, touching and brilliant movie.
Umizaru was a very touching film. It kinda reminded me of titanic, except everybody made it out alive, so it was a happy ending instead.
I thought that one of the most heart felt scenes was when senzaki daisuke had to leave his friend behind on the ship. He reached out and grabbed his friend's hand for what would seem to be the last time, then let go. He had to leave his friend behind to have a chance at saving the other's lives.
That scene's emotional edge was belayed by the scene earlier in the movie were senzaki had to let go of one of the children's hands in order to save the other.
I thought that this movie's message was about facing difficult choices and choosing wisely, then having the courage to stick with the choices that you have made.
The movie unfolds as the main character, Kanna, got off a flight and met with her fiance Kanna. Kanna wants to marry Senzaki, but Senzaki has reservations about marrying Kanna due to personal issues, and a confrontation between the two puts a serious strain on the relationship. Unfortunately for Kanna, Senzaki has to put his personal issues aside the next day when he learns that a gigantic ferry carrying some 620 passengers and nearly two-hundred vehicles needs to be evacuated before it sinks. Although there's enough time in which everyone can be evacuated, things immediately go from bad to worse. As Senzaki, his colleague Yoshioka, a pregnant woman, and a man with a troubled past all find themselves trapped on the ship in a room slowly filling with water. Senzaki has to relied on his passion, strength, and wits to lead the leftover passengers out safely and see his fiance. In conclusion, this movie almost put tears on my eyes as well as the others who watched it. However, I enjoyed it very much and hopefully the next one will be as twice as better.
"Umizaru" The Limit of Love was an amazing movie. It is about life of a guard. It lets others see what a guard would do in dangerous situations whether to choose among the victims, life of a partner, and most importantly his own. The movie was very touching especially when Sensaki had to leave Yoshioka behind. It made me cried(just a little). But no matter what, the whole crew will always come back to rescue him out. In the end, im glad it was a happy ending when Sensaki made it out alive so Sensaki and Kanna can be together :)
I would say "Umizaru" was one of the best foreign movies I ever watch. I loved how every sad moment there was someone could add a comment to lighten up the mood. I really felt bad for Kanna because Senzaki was distance and couldn’t express his feelings. Then again I admired him for trying his best with his job and never wanting to leave anyone behind again for the sake of losing a man in one of his mission.
It was touching when he promise Yoshioka that he would come back for him no matter what happens. With strength and courage everyone worked together to save one another through every obstacle. In the end they were all rewarded with a new beginning.I would recommend this movie to anyone who love watching movies about life moral.
"Umizaru" was an interesting film and a beautiful story about human emotion. This film was full of discoveries and realizations. The most important discovery was the realization that human beings can really have the strength to do what is right, even in the face of extreme danger. Another realization was made when Daisuke-san finally knew he had to move forward from the horrible incident we saw at the beginning of the film (plane crash). Overall it was a lovely action packed film.
I guess this movie's theme is 'Do not give up'. While we live every day, we face a variety of problems and hardship that we think we cannot handle. However, like this movie's actor, we should not abandon without trying our best. We need to do our best every moment. That's the most important thing that I learned this movie. In addition, she was always faithful about her fiance. I believe that fact also helped him not to give up. This movie was so touching, lovely, and sad. It was good opportunity for me to watch Japanese movie.
"Umizaru 2 Limit of Love" was an overall enjoyable movie. Even though Senzaki was faced with numerous helpless situations he never gave up and he never gave in to despair. I think this really speaks on the Japanese sense of "Konjo." The movie was rather suspenseful and did a very good job of relating to the average person.
The movie was very different from the movies that I would watch on my own. I like it overall but there were some parts that I thought could be a little better. Like they could of made the move shorter. They also could of not have taken so much time in between the dialoge. The movie reminded me of the titanic. It made people feel as if they were apart of some thing bigger like a team. I think that if a ship were to tip over that any person left inside is very lucky to still be a live.
My reaction to “Umizaru 2 Limit of Love" is complex. Overall I found the movie to be a little over the top for my taste. The dialogue and the storyline were too easily recognized as scripted. It was difficult to be engaged in the movie because it felt like a movie. Especially so were the lines for the rich car dealer. Despite this, there were some well-developed concepts. The Character Daisuke’s problem of not letting go of past failures is something many deal with. Aspects such as this allow the viewer to relate with the movie on some level, which, as mentioned prior, could have been better if it were not for the distractions of “cheesy” lines. I also found the movie interesting because of the cultural nuisances. Watching for these allows a foreign viewer to learn more about Japanese culture.
The movie begins with the main character Daisuke trying to save two people, a man and a little boy at sea, but he was only able to save the boy while the man drowns into the abyss. Then it picks up when Diasuke and his coast guard friend Yoshioka meets up with fiance Kanna for dinner. When they came back to the hotel, it was revealed to us that because of the past rescue mission that Diasuke is having a hard time with his relationship with Kanna. The next day the coast guards were summoned to come and rescue some 600 people on a sinking freighter. Most of the people made it off the freighter and back to land safely except for Daisuke, Yoshioka, a pregnant woman, and a man with family trouble. Daisuke and the others were unfortunate to be blown by an explosion into a room where the surrounding room are either flooding or caught on fire. The clock is ticking because in their current room water is leaking through and they have to make a decision quick or else they'll be drown within the freighter. With only one solution left, the captain gave Daisuke the order to swim the others and himself to another room 30 meters away. After making it to the other room the Daisuke lost connection with his captain. Daisuke showed strength and will power and find a way out. The movie shows three main themes which are trust, strength, and the most important one is heroism.
This movie was powerful in it's themes of courage and determination. Though at times it did go a little over the top, it does seem a little difficult to accept that one man could keep his grip on a ladder that hi up carrying the weight of an injured man and a pregnant woman with all that water pouring on him with such force, but it managed to keep one interested and it didn't push one beyond the simple suspension of disbelief. Not only this, but it managed to keep from becoming too intense, as it easily could have with it's constant disasters and set backs, by spreading moments of comedy to relieve the tension. The characters were as believable as any in a Hollywood drama and the action was as engaging as well. In addition to all of this, it was an interesting example of how our cultures are similar. While there may be plenty of ways in which Western and Eastern culture and history differ, this movie points to one way in which we are the same: we both appreciate a hero who is willing to risk himself and everything he has just to save the life of someone he doesn't really even know. Overall this is a great movie and I can recommend it to anyone looking for a good drama.
"Umizaru" is another traditional Japanese movie. Action, thriller and love story are included in a movie. Daisukedachi survived the terrifying boat crash with faith. This movie showed that no matter what happens people can survive. – Political aspects. Looking at Shinichi, I realized that many people do not believe as much as people used to. Relationship between Daisuke and Kanna showed these days’ young couples' problem – less faith and afraid.
Umizaru 2 was a wonderful tale of friendship, love and devotion, not to mention bravery. At first I was skeptical as to how good a movie could be about a ferry sinking, but as the movie progressed I was drawn further into the spirit of the movie. By the end I can honestly say they I was able to feel exactly what the writer intended the actors to portray. Also the little twist at the end was amazing. I love how the director gave us a scene of complete tragedy and then all of a sudden introduced hope. I'd say all in all its probably one of the best dramas that I have seen this year.
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. Although, it was a little too intense all the way through. I suppose that's the point though isn't it? The one thing that I really noticed is that the movie really cut to the chase. There was a minor side story, but otherwise, the entire movie was about the ferry crash and the recovery of all the passengers, whereas in American movies, it's about a good hour before they get to the real "action" portion of most movies. As someone else before me said, there was a little to much of a rollercoaster going on. One minute they were safe and almost out, the next they were stuck, then they were safe, then they were stuck. It got a little old after a while. I was also impressed that a decent level of comedy was maintained throughout the entire movie. Like I said, I really did enjoy this movie. I just wish I would've seen the first one, I felt a little out of the loop as far as the full story of Daisuke and Kanna.
Limit Of Love opens up to a scene where the main character, Daisuke Senzaki, battles the stormy weather to keep two victims of a plane crash alive. Unfortunately, conditions only allowed him to save one person while the other drowned, plaguing Daisuke with guilt. This opening sequence laid down the basis of internal struggle for Daisuke, thus creating a strain on his relationship with his fiance Kanna. Umizaru 2 is about Japan Coast Guards, known as the Sea Monkeys, and their struggle to save a sinking ferry. The movie depicts friendship, love, courage, and faith.
What I liked about this movie was that there was a surprise at every turn. One moment everything seems all calm, the next moment has us gripping the edges of our seats. I also liked how the characters' comments could lighten up any situation and still make us laugh. Overall, I laughed, anticipated, and cried with this movie. I enjoyed it very much.
This movie was awesome. I thought it was hilarious and I really enjoyed the entire thing. I thought the love scenes were kinda cheesy but in comparison to other Japanese movies I have seen, they are just as dramatic. I really liked this movie because it gave me a view of what the Japanese Coast Guard is like. I think this movie was probably pretty inspirational to teens in Japan and probably sparked an increase in military contracts. "Everybody can be a hero" kinda thing. Besides that I thought it was pretty exciting overall and I would like to see the other movies that we obviously hadn't seen prior to this one.
Umizaru was a great movie, the scenes are well thought out. What I really liked about this movie was the determination of Daisuke in saving the lives of people as something he wanted to do and as his job. Daisuke did not want to lose another person because of what haunted him in the past when he was trying to save someone then the hands slipped and he let go. Then his determination saved the people from drowning and also saved his marriage to Kanna. The movie really gets you into it and you'd want to watch more as the scenes go by.
In the beginning I thought it was going to be the titanic rip off kind of movie, but I was tottaly wrong. In fact I think this movie is kind of better than the titanic. This movie was awesome and really good, it was filled with humor and a little drama that took my breath away in some scenes. Though I have to say that my favorite characters was Daisuke and the drunk guy who was found inside the ferrari, he was hilarious. I believe all actors did their job very well because I’ve seen a lot of movies with a similar story but the movie just looked so chessy. So, overall it was a really good movie that I enjoyed watching.
I'm not sure what to say about the movie. I felt it was very corny and was surprised that it was made in 2006, It felt like a movie from the 80's...There were parts that made me cry, and some that made me laugh (even though I think it wasn't ment to make me laugh). I think the best part of the movie is when Daisuke proposes to Kanna on the intercom and everyone hears it.
The movie was very sincere. While being an action movie there was also some romance involved. I liked how the director made the beginning somewhat of a mystery in the beginning, because you didn't really know which character played who in the beginning till the end of the movie; which reveals that it was Daisuke who was trying to save the father and the son. However, this movie was a bit dragged on and just a little unrealistic towards the end. But overall, it was a heartfelt movie.

I have to say that"Umizaru 2 Limit of
Love" is one of the most touching movies
i have ever watched, yet the ending was
a bit predictable. However,I can't help
but laugh inside when certain scenes are
shot in typical Japanese fashion way
such as characters looking hard at each
other and giving constant nods of
assurances, especially in the control
centre. I have to say that that part
was the best specaillay the commentes
that they were throwing at each others.
Nevertheless there was something that
concerned me which is the budget of the
movie, i mean to sink a ferry that big
it must have coasted them a fortune.
Over all the movie was a lot of fun, and
breath taking scene.
